DENICdirect Detailed Information

Following are details concerning the information you need to provide in the domain registration form. Bold type indicates required data, italics optional information. Exceptions from the optionality are again marked bold.

Please note that we can process your order faster, if the information you provide is complete and correct. Further information is available in the DENIC Domain Guidelines.

Domain

In addition to the TLD ending ".de", a domain may only be comprised of digits (0–9), hyphens and letters (see the DENIC Domain Guidelines for details). It may not either begin or end with a hyphen, nor may it have a hyphen as both its third and fourth characters. No distinction is made between upper and lower case. The minimum length of a domain is one character and its maximum length is 63 characters (see RFC1035).

Domaininhaber (Domain Holder)

The domain holder is the contractual partner of DENIC and therefore the person who holds the material rights to the domain. If the domain holder is not a natural person, then the full name of the organization (legal person) must be supplied in the name field (including the indication of its legal form). In addition the address has to be specified. A PO box address does not suffice. Furthermore an e-mail address has to be specified.

Rechnungsanschrift (Billing Address)

A billing address must be specified. If the entity to be billed is not a natural person, then the full name of the organisation (legal person) must be supplied in the name field (including the indication of its legal form).

Auftragstyp (Order Type)

There are two ways to connect a .de domain. When we speak about the connectivity of a domain we refer to the provision of services that make it possible to reach it in the Internet.

Nameserver

The name server entry is good for registration of  the name servers, to which the domain will be delegated. At least two permanently and redundantly reachable nameservers are needed. The name servers and zones must meet a variety of technical requirements. Please refer to information provided on our webpage Nameserver und NSentry Data.

In any event the support through non-endemic nameservers (nameservers that don't belong to you) has to be discussed with the respective administrators. Prior to final delegation all nameservers have to be configured according to the requirements.

You can use the NAST Web interface to carry out a Nameserver Predelegation Check. During this check, the name servers of your zone (domain) will be subjected to various tests in order to verify that they are configured correctly and can be delegated easily and securely.

NSentry

This entry is good for registration of up to five NSentry-entries. With this order type, you do not need to have a name server of your own. However, some restrictions apply for the publishable Resource Records. Please refer to information provided on our webpage Nameserver und NSentry Data.

Up to five mailexchange- (IN MX) or address entries (IN A or IN AAAA) are possible.
